On Monday, I watched one of my favorite child advocates, Marian Wright Edelman, founder and president of the Children's Defense Fund, discuss the obligation we have to address impoverished families and children. Ms. Edelman serves as an inspiration not only because of her steadfast commitment to the care of our children, but because she astutely and unabashedly conveys why we, as a national community (parents, educators, community, business, and government), must re-prioritize the investments we make in our children’s futures. I admire the fire that flames within this woman-knowing from whence she comes, what she has accomplished, and her ongoing quest to accomplish more.
