Expectations for Educational Attainment

Expectations regarding education attainment were asked of students who participated in the Collage as Storyteller Project and their parents. 41% percent of students reported having a sibling who has attended or graduated from college and about 92% of them reported that they expect to finish college. 96% percent of parents report that they believe they have a say in what kind of education their child gets. When asked about educational expectations for their child, about 79% of parents reported that they expect their child to get a college degree.

As indicated through their feedback, students and their parents have high educational expectations.
Furthermore, parents care about the type of education their child receives and are interested in programs and opportunities that enrich their child’s learning.
